Events Coordinator - Reviewing Applications
The Summerland Chamber of Commerce markets the community of Summerland and serves our 700+ members through education, promotion and advocacy.
The Chamber is responsible for specific tourism and business events and requires the support of an Event Coordinator. This is recurring 8 month position (Sept – April) for 25-30 hrs per week to accommodate the Chamber’s busiest event season. Full time hours are required during November. There is a possibility for becoming a year around position in 2018 for the right individual.
Applicants will require the following qualifications:
Working with other staff, this individual will have primary responsibility for logistical, vendor and sponsor support during the Summerland Festival of Lights, an annual event attracting more than 7000 guests, the Annual Gala Awards evening, as well as ongoing member business and educational events. An additional larger event could be planned for 2018. Event budget management and follow up reporting is also required.
While primarily a Chamber and tourism event coordination and related marketing position, the Chamber has many ongoing projects and other duties will be assigned. The job may also involve the occasional weekend or evening work for particular events such as the Festival of Lights (last Friday in November), and the Business and Community Awards Gala (early March). A vehicle is often required in order to travel within the community.
This position reports to the Chamber Executive Director and works closely with the Membership and Communications Coordinator.
Compensation is based on experience and availability of funding for the position.
